Step 3 Water Filters

Water Filters Water Purifiers - Your Body Is 60% Water - Is It Good Safe Water?

So here we are at Step 3! Water Filters. If you have completed Step 1 - Developing a Fitness Mindset and Step 2 Detoxifying and Cleansing, congratulations! You are on your way to a total body transformation! If you have not completed these steps, please go back and do so! These steps must be done in order to achieve any kind of results! Now on to Step 3 -  The Importance of Water Filter Usage and Keeping your Body Clean!

Water Filters You Are 60% Water!

You have started developing the fit fifty mindset! You have cleansed and detoxified your liver, gallbladder, intestines etc. Now, the goal is to keep yourself that way! If you have been drinking tap or bottled water, you are in for a rude awakening! Tap and bottled water contain organic (V.O.C.'s) and inorganic contaminants (synthetic chemicals) that can weaken your immune system over time. It can also cause cellular damage or even cancerous cell mutation. Filtered water is the healthiest, least expensive and safest way to go! But all water filters are not created equal. I have been filtering my water for over five years now and it has changed my life and that of my family's! This is all part of your new hobby! It is a critical part of body transformation not to be overlooked! Tap water can contain harmful bacteria and other people's prescriptions! The last geological survey done in the U.S. showed that in 80% of the samples taken from streams in 30 states contained toxic levels of blood pressure, antidepressant, birth control estrogens and men's hair product testosterones.. I don't know about you, but, just the idea that I might be taking someone else's prescriptions is scary to me! I am trying to get through life medication free! Both tap and bottled water can contain chlorine and chloramines as well! If you look at the periodic table of elements, there is a column that contains the Halogens Flourine (Flouride), Chlorine, and Bromine. These are all toxic to the body and it's systems. Only Iodine is necessary and good for the body, and only in small, trace amounts and in a nascent form. A future article will deal specifically with nascent iodine and it's benefits, so, keep an eye out for that post!Tap and bottled water can contain the 'bad' halogens. This can play havoc with your endocrine and immune systems, weakening them over time. As we age, it is critical to strengthen, not weaken these systems to ward off sickness and disease.

The Water Prescription: For Health, Vitality and Rejuvenation by Christopher Vasey, N.D.  is an excellent read, explaining the cycle of water in the body and the importance of hydrating. I am recommending water filters information I have used and found valuable. Remember, knowledge is power and it is a valuable practice to compile a library to empower yourself on your journey!

Water Filters Vs. Water Purifying

Water purification involves the use of iodine or chlorine to remove biological contaminants, viruses, chemicals, and other materials. It is a chemical process. Remember we talked about how chlorine is a toxic member of the halogen column in the periodic table. It is important to remember though that simply purifying water cannot always remove other impurities found in the water.

There are also advanced water purification methods like ultraviolet germicidal radiation and reverse osmosis. UGR is slow and expensive. Reverse osmosis removes the good trace minerals that the body needs. Micronutrients and trace minerals are critical to good health. Iodine, iron, zinc, calcium, selenium etc. are found in ground water and are needed for the bodies systems. Distilled or reverse osmosis water has little to no trace minerals.

Water filtration / Water Filters use the physical barrier of the filter to remove impurities. It can also involve the use of chemicals.  These systems can remove tiny particles like bacteria and microbial cysts.

At its most basic, water filtration is the process of ridding water of any impurities through a physical barrier, chemicals, or a biological process. An easy example of water filtration is boiling water or cleansing impurities with carbon filters. These water filters systems are often small in nature and are sometimes thought to improve the taste of water. The key element to remember in terms of a water filtration system is that they focus largely on impurities. These water filters systems can be used to remove even the tiniest of particles, often including bacteria and microbial cysts. Filtration systems can be permanent or portable, and the size you need will entirely depend upon the amount of water you want to filter. However, it is important to note that water filtration systems do not treat viruses in any way. While these systems may make water appear to be clean, they cannot be relied upon as a sole means to ensure safe drinking water for you or your family.

I am a huge believer in the use of colloidal silver, not just for water filters, but also for killing bacteria on and in the body. I make my own colloidal silver at home. I will be doing a separate article on the benefits and use of colloidal silver, so keep an eye out for that! I have been using the Propur Big gravity water filter system for five(5) years now with incredible results. The Propur water filters use colloidal silver impregnated into the ceramic filter to kill bacteria on contact. They are the only water filters, to my knowledge that do this. I know they work, because, occasionally, I need to wipe the bacterial slime from the surface of the filters to restore the flow of the filtration through the ceramic water filters.

Here is a shot of my water filters that are about at their half life.

Notice the brown bacterial slime buildup due to impregnated colloidal silver.

This proves that bacteria is being killed on contact. You can remove the slime once every couple of water refills simply by wiping the filters with a disposable towelette.

The Propur water filters have colloidal silver impregnated into the ceramic matrix to kill bacteria on contact!

( you will get these with the purchase of the Propur Big water filters, though!)

Here is a photo of my Propur Big Water Filter at home. Note: It has a stand and a sight glass which are really a must! I will put links to the accessories below! If you click on this photo you go to Propur.

Here is another place to get the Propur Big Water Filter System I Use!

You can do your own homework on water filters. I'm just suggesting the one that I researched and used for years and know that it works. You can look at  the under the counter installed systems if you like. All these systems have their pros and cons. I would suggest the counter top system to begin with, just because you can buy it, and be up and running in minutes. As I mentioned, this Propur unit has the impregnated colloidal silver that kills bacteria on contact. There may be other brands that have this feature, I just haven't found them. Consumer feedback indicates that the Big Berkey Water Filter System is good as well. You can click on the previous words or the picture below for more info.  I do not know about the parameters of the Berkey filters themselves and that is really the key. Does the filter remove particulates, chemicals, pharmaceuticals? Does it kill bacteria? At the end of the day,  this being step 3 in your fit at fifty body transformation, the most important element is to get up and running!  Now you have safe water to put in your body, let's talk about how to take that water with you, where ever you go!

Best Water Bottle Flask

You have filtered your water. Now why would you put it into an unsafe container for transport and defeat the effort of filtering? Sure, due to public outcry, manufacturers for the most part, have reduced or eliminated the use of Bisphenol A (BPA) due to it's estrogen mimicking properties, but even the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles that you buy on the run are not recommended for refill due to bacteria buildup and chemical leaching. So, what to do?

Firstly, educate yourself on the dangers of chemical / plastic toxins. Add to your library of affirmation by reading Drinking Water: A History by James Salzman where he talks about "Is It Safe To Drink the Water?" and "Death In Small Doses" but more importantly the whole history of water and it's sources and the not so slow deterioration of our drinking water supply. In How To Purify Water, Stacey Chillemi outlines the efficiencies and shortfalls of the public water purification utilities and just what you are being exposed to if you drink tap water. Both these titles are super educational and a must read if you are going to understand and lead a toxin, plastics free lifestyle.

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, which are the common type you buy for drinking water at your corner store have been tested by a number of scientists for their safety in regard to refilling and reusing. Study findings indicate that when left at room temperature, the bottles quickly accumulated dangerous levels of bacteria in the ridges and furrows and most especially the neck. Heating the bottles by dish washing or hot water in the sink only encourages bacterial growth as well. Heating was also found to encourage chemical migration from the plastic. This can result in nausea, vomiting and diarrhea or worse!

The new wave in transporting your home filtered water is to use food grade stainless steel.

Here are some parameters to look for;

  • Is the body of the container made of food grade stainless steel?
  • Is the body of the container double or triple walled to eliminate sweating?
  • Does the container hold 20 oz. or more?
  • Does the cap have a good removable gasket to avoid leaking?
  • Is the container of a wide mouthed design to aid in cleaning?
  • Have you verified that there is no plastic liner inside?
  • If the cap is made of plastic, is it BPA free plastic?
  • Does the product come with a guarantee or warranty?

To save you the homework, find below some of the top picks I have researched that meet the criteria listed above. You can click on the image to open in another tab giving you more info about the particular item. My number one pick is the Klean Kanteen Double Wall Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Growler with Leak Proof Stainless Steel Swing Lok Cap - 32oz It meets all of the criteria we discussed. If you want something larger, try the Klean Kanteen 64 oz.. The nicest feature of this flask is the food grade stainless steel cap with a really good cleanable gasket. Try and avoid going for a plastic cap, but if you do, make sure it is BPA free plastic with a removable / replaceable gasket.

 Water Filters Step 3 Conclusion

You have started developing a fitness mindset, you have cleansed your body, and now you are hydrating your body with clean, safe water. If you have reached this step three, congratulations. You are well on your way to total body fitness in your fifties. It is up to you to maintain and further cultivate your mindset with ongoing learning and building an affirmation library. Keep your internal organs clear and clean with the 5 Day Cleanse regemin. Continue to use the Oxy Powder every few weeks to keep yourself regular. Filter your water and then transport it in a safe container. These are the steps that others either do not know about or fail to consider.  Most websites dealing with health and fitness launch directly into exercise and diet without the necessary body / mind preparation. Diet is not effective if your 'filters' are plugged. Exercise is not possible if you have no energy and your body is utilizing it's energy fighting toxins. If you have completed these three steps and have committed to incorporating these permanently into your life, move on to the next step!
